City of Tales
City of Tales is the first indie video game entirely conceived and developed by Melazeta. It is an original title created for the consumer market and designed for an international audience of narrative and strategy game enthusiasts.
The game is the result of the team's extensive experience in game design, gameplay mechanics, and interactive storytelling. With City of Tales, this expertise has been brought together to create a proprietary intellectual property, developed with the goal of establishing a presence within the international indie gaming scene.
The title's distinctive feature is a gameplay system that combines elements of card games with a strong narrative component. This hybrid mechanic, developed and refined throughout production, has been defined by the team as a Narrative Card Game: a system in which cards, events, characters, and player choices work together to create branching storylines and a highly replayable experience.
Beyond being a new product for the video game market, City of Tales also represents an important opportunity for experimentation for Melazeta. The development process has enabled the team to explore new gameplay mechanics, community engagement models, and distribution strategies typical of the independent games industry. The game has also been awarded the Italian Ministry of Culture Video Games Tax Credit.
City of Tales will be available as a cross-platform release on iOS, Android, and Steam, with a distribution strategy aimed at reaching players across multiple countries and markets.
The beta version of the game has been selected for the Indie Vault at Lucca Comics & Games 2026, a highly visible showcase for indie developers within Italy's largest event dedicated to comics, gaming, and entertainment.
